Yin and Yang are the most fundamental theory in the Chinese worldview, they represent the theory of duality. The idea of Yin and Yang is used as a means of understanding the nature and composition of everything in the universe, examined as pairs of interacting opposites. And the relation of a yin-yang pair is Qigong Wushu seen as a continuous cycle, e.g. nights follow days.

So what is Yin and Yang respectively? Yin is seen as a passive and negative state that is associated with femininity, cold, dark, quiet, night and winter. It is represented by the black side of the symbol. While Yang is just the opposite. And when you look at the symbol, you will find within each side is a small circle of the opposite color signifying the fact that yin and yang arise from each other. It also represents the idea of balance between the two forces and the certainty that extreme yang is converted to yin and vice versa.

Who can learn Kung-Fu Wu Su?
Kung-Fu can benefit everyone, young and old, male and female, as it uses breathing and meditation techniques derived from the Taoist System to keep the body resilient, the mind active and in harmony.

The purpose of Kung-Fu is not to create a fighting machine, but rather a complete disciplined individual who doesn't boast of his or her prowess, but uses the knowledge of the Martial Art in self-defense only when a life threatening situation exists.

Wing Chun (widely translated as 'beautiful springtime' or 'springtime song') is a Southern Chinese Martial Arts, one of the branches of the generic term Kung Fu. Wing Chun is a direct, scientific and clinical style of fighting, in which the attacker is quickly overwhelmed by speed and power. Being a martial arts, the fighting aspect is only one part of the whole system, and emphasis is also placed on relaxation and physical health, with Wing Chun practitioners continuing to practise well into old age. This relaxation and health can benefit the practitioner every day in today's stressful society.

Wing Chun is the fast road to total self-defence and promotes self-confidence without producing an aggressive ego. Wing Chun is a highly aggressive art that concentrates on center line attacks wasting no energy. It gained international fame as the foundation art of the late movie and television star Bruce Lee, and has become one of the best known and most widely practised forms of martial arts in the world.

Tai Chi Quan is a kind of Chinese martial arts. It is frequently referred to as a 'soft' art. In fact, one of its original names was 'Mian Chuan' which translates as 'soft boxing'. It acquired this name by its soft, flowing and gentle movements.

The emphasis in Tai Chi Chuan on slow motion is the result of a belief that to be fast is quite easy, but to be slow is difficult. By developing great slowness practitioners can become capable of great speed. There are two most popular styles of Tai Chi Chuan, the Yang family and the Chen family.

In China, land of its birth, the art has long been noted for its great healing and therapeutic value.

In common with other practitioners of Chinese martial arts, Tai Chi Quan are members of a school not simply as people who share a common interest, but as members of a family.

One of the central concerns of Tai Chi Chuan for Kung Fu Shirt is discipline. The practice of Tai Chi Chuan is linked with the philosophy of Yin and Yang. The art embraces the whole person, both mind and body. It emphasises on relaxation starts first and foremost with the mind.

The origins of Wing Chun are generally accepted to have come from the Shaolin temple in China around the 6th or 7th century A.D. after a visit to the temple by Kung Fu Uniforms which introduced Buddhism from India at that time.

The new Qing government made life more and more difficult for the monks with a series of purges against the temple. It is said that five elders escaped the carnage and vowed to adapt their kung fu to overcome the existing styles (because there were traitors in the temple and the elders could no longer trust the monks) and to overthrow the Qing government.

It is said that one of the elders, a Buddhist nun by the name of Ng Moi developed a new art after witnessing a fight between a snake and a crane the direct attacks of the snake and the deflections of the crane. In a village where Ng Moi was staying there was a local girl who was the subject of the unwanted attentions of a local warlord who demanded that the girl marry him. After hearing of this Ng Moi took the girl in as her first pupil and it was arranged that if she beat the warlord in a fight then he would leave her alone. The girl returned and easily defeated her admirer and therefore Ng Moi named the new art after her first pupil Yim Wing Chun. Wing Chun means beautiful or eternal springtime.

What is more certain is that Wing Chun was passed onto some members of a traveling opera group who were also anti-Qing agents known as The Red Junk Opera. Over a period of time the group dispersed and took with them their Wing Chun skills passing them on wherever they went. This has led over a period of time to at least twelve distinct styles of Wing Chun (all with a common theme but slight differences in application), some of these styles have hardly left their local area in China, some went to Malaysia, some to Vietnam etc. In 1949, Ip Man who was considered to be the grandmaster of modern Wing Chun, brought the style out of China into Hong Kong and eventually to the rest of the world. Our interest lies in the lineage that leads through to Grandmaster Ip Ching, as he is the son of Grandmaster Ip Man whose style we practise, and Ip Ching is regarded as the highest authority alive today on Ip Man Wing Chun kung fu.

Stance training is perhaps the most fundamental type of training for almost all forms of martial arts. Our training also places a great deal of emphasis on acquiring the appropriate feeling of balance and stability.

The stances are

Horse
Bow and arrow
Cat
Twisted Horse
Half Horse
Kneeling
Seven Star
Three Pillar
Guard

Stepping trains movement. There are set series of moving exercises that develop body coordination, leg strength and reaction. Some examples of the basic training positions include:

Horse stance to Horse Stance

Swinging horse (pivot on ball and swing into opposite facing horse stance)
Swinging horse variation (shovel step then pivot)
Advancing horse (kick up with heel, spring off back leg and kick down to horse)
do NOT raise in height as you kick up and as you move
do NOT move your body to your support leg as you kick up with heel
advance forward with each horse

Horse stance to Bow and Arrow Stance

Side to side
Sink, pivot on ball of right foot (or left)
Drive off ball, do not raise heel, turning to left (or right)
Front foot does NOT move
Rear foot points 45 degrees to front and back leg is straight
Triangle Stepping
Start in horse, turn to bow
Step up with rear leg, then out 45 degrees to horse
Stay low as you move
Turn to bow stance (front leg is leg you just moved)
REPEAT!
Four corner Stepping
One leg remains planted (some pivoting on ball of foot of course)
Start in horse
Side to side (facing one corner of the "Square")
Step up rear leg and step out to next corner in horse stance
Side to side
Step up rear leg
